Xbox 360 Elite power supply question

I just got an elite recently off ebay, and my GF's brother has one as well, i just went in his room to hook my xbox 360, and i was just gonna use his cords but his power supply wont plug into mine, their slightly different, both the cord and the power input on the xbox, why would they be different if they are both elites ?
